LMER names 3 corporate fellows
Jacob Barhen, David Greene and Frank Plasil are ORNLís three newest Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation corporate fellows. The trio joins 23 other corporate fellows at the Laboratory.
Barhen, of Computer Science and Mathematics Division where he directs ORNLís Center for Engineering Science Advanced Research, was recognized for his accomplishments in using advanced computing methods to further the theories of global optimization and neural networks. He received a 1998 R&D 100 Award and was recently honored by NASA for his contributions to the U.S. space program. Barhen has authored more than 130 scientific articles and holds five U.S. patents.
Greene, senior research staff member in Energy Divisionís Center for Transportation Analysis, was recognized for his work in applying interdisciplinary research findings to national transportation energy and environmental policy. He has written more than 150 professional journal articles, contributions to books and technical reports.
Plasil was selected for his accomplishments in the field of nuclear physics. He is a senior research staff member in the Physics Division. He has coauthored more than 250 professional articles in journals and books. In 1984 he received the Senior Alexander Von Humboldt Award. He has also earned the 1998 Honorary Medal for Merit in Physical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
