ORNL people

Richard Haire, senior staff scientist in the Chemical and Analytical Sciences Division, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Haire, who has worked at ORNL since 1965, was recognized for his actinide research.

Steven Paul Hirshman, group leader in the Fusion Energy Division, and Gene Ice, senior staff scientist in the Metals and Ceramics Division, were both named fellows by the American Physical Society. Hirshman was honored for his many contributions to fusion energy research; Ice was recognized for the application of resonant X-ray scattering to study materials and for his pioneering work in X-ray optics.
