Trivelpiece announces He’ll step down March 30
ORNL Director Al Trivelpiece announced July 21 that he will step down as ORNL director on the day Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation’s contract to manage and operate ORNL expires.

“On March 31, 2000, I will step down as the director of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. On April 1, 2000, a new contractor will assume responsibility for the management and operation of ORNL. I will work with the selected contractor to ensure a smooth transition once the Department of Energy has made its selection,” he said.

Announced bidders on the ORNL contract are teams co-led by the University of Tennessee and Battelle and Universities Research Association and Lockheed Martin Corporation.
