AbstractThe Department of Energy recently established its first Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This multidisciplinary research facility is dedicated to enabling demonstration of next generation materials and manufacturing technologies for advancing the US industrial economy. ORNL's key thrust areas include additive manufacturing and carbon fiber technology in addition to light weight metals, low temperature material synthesis, roll-to-roll processing, and transient field processing. Dr. Duty will review ORNL's efforts in these areas and how they relate to the goals of DOE, with a specific focus on additive manufacturing.
Coffee and Cookies will be available first come first serve from 9:30-10:00.
