ORNL Researcher receives Distinguished Alumnus Award

Dr. David R. Cole, a senior staff scientist at the Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been selected to receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the State of New York College at Cortland.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest honor the college bestows on its graduates. The award is presented to two alumni each year in recognition of their impressive careers and achievements.
The presentation of the award will be made during Cortland's alumni reunion weekend at a luncheon July 11. Cole and his wife will also attend a dinner honoring the distinguished alumni hosted by the university president and his wife.
Cole is the leader of the Geochemistry Group in the Chemical and Analytical Sciences Division at ORNL. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Geochemical Society and the Mineralogical Society of America.
Cole and his wife, Vicki, live in Knoxville. They have three children, Ragan, Jeremy and Aaron.
ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
