Methods / Analytical Surfaces

Often surface sampling and mass spectral imaging can be done on samples in their native conditions, however, an interesting part of our research is the development and use of workflow-friendly surfaces and methods that are capable of enhancing sensitivity and selectivity by eliminating certain matrix effects and other compounds deleterious to signal.

Recent work has been done on surfaces including:

  • Tissues from Whole Body Autoradiography
  • Thin Layer Chromatography Plates (1- & 2-D separations)

  • Capture / Solid Phase Extraction Cards

  • Dried Blood Spots

  • Parrafin Embedded Microtomed Samples

  • Electrophoresis Gels

  • Affinity Arrays

...and other setups allowing the optimization of technique to technique variability, complementarity, and practically important cost/information ratios.
