Overview

The Nuclear Data (ND) Group is part of the Nuclear Science and Technology Division (NSTD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) where it is responsible for providing nuclear data support for current and emerging nuclear applications. ND staff possess a broad range of physics and nuclear engineering expertise that is used to provide nuclear data support to a variety of sponsors including ORNL divisions and programs, Department of Energy (DOE) Offices and laboratories, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and the nuclear industry. ND staff perform basic science R&D that includes cross-section measurements and analyses to develop nuclear data evaluations for the U.S. Evaluated Nuclear Data File (ENDF/B) system. Additionally, ND staff develop software and methods to support the evaluation of measured cross-section data (SAMMY) and the generation of cross-section libraries (AMPX) for radiation transport packages such as the SCALE code system. In short, the ND Group has the capability to provide comprehensive nuclear data support to address a wide variety of customer specific applications.
