The Building Technology Center will mentor several teachers participating in the July 2007 Appalachian Regional Commision program. The Building Envelope and Building Equipment Programs will provide technical mentoring support helping participating teachers identify innovative building technologies and practices that can contribute to the energy efficiency and reliability of new and existing residential buildings. Each mentor will provide an assignment for the teachers to learn effect of the technology on building performance. Lessons learned by the teachers will be documented using BEP's web-based calculators to identify the most cost-effective, energy-saving measures for residential buildings. The teachers will report on a base case residential house and shall compare its performance to their best combination of energy-efficient strategies identified while reviewing ongoing roof, wall, insulation, moisture, ventilation and equipment studies. Results will be reported by the teachers on Friday, July 20 in the Pollard Auditorium.
