Robust d-wave Pairing Correlations in the Heisenberg Kondo Lattice Model

In addition to the famous high temperature superconductors based on Cu oxides there are other materials that have exotic superconducting states. A very interesting family of compounds with exotic properties are the heavy fermions. The model Hamiltonians to describe these materials are very complicated since they involve several bands, and unbiased numerical results are difficult to obtain. In this manuscript, studies of models for heavy fermions are carried out in low dimensional geometries where state of the art numerical techniques can be applied. For the first time using robust computational methods, it was observed that there are ranges of couplings where holes tend to pair in a d-wave state, forming a low dimensional version of a superconductor.
