The LandScan™ Dataset is copyrighted.  ORNL has authorized East View to distribute LandScan™ Global.

What is available?

In addition to the general information and documentation on this website, you may download, without registering, a sample dataset derived from the LandScan™ Dataset. 

To obtain access to the actual data, please use the appropriate emails provided below.

Who can have access and how is access obtained? 

LandScan™ Data are available free of charge for U.S. Federal Government agencies.   Due to changes in data access, registration for the dataset will begin when you send an email to and make a request to register for the latest available LandScan data. 

All others requests, humanitarian organizations, educational research (at
k-12 schools, colleges, and universities), and commercial organizations, contact East View at  License fees are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that registrations are normally processed within 24 hours.  However, it may take up to three business days before your request is processed. 

LandScan Privacy Notice

While LandScan™ data are available free of charge for U.S. Federal Government Agencies, all users must register to access the data set.

Your registration information will be used to provide you with LandScan Global Population Data updates and publications. Your personal information will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, rented, or used for non-LandScan purposes. Statistical information may be reported to LandScan's sponsors.
