Creating an Ethical Framework for Studies that Involve the Worker Community was produced by the Human Subjects Research Program of the DOE Office of Biological and Environmental Research. The book contains chapters on the need for worker protection, foundations of an ethical framework, challenges in using genetic data, protection of privacy, stakeholder concerns and responsibilities, and planning and implementing worker studies. The Human Genome Project (HGP) was an international 13-year effort, 1990 to 2003. Primary goals were to discover the complete set of human genes and make them accessible for further biological study, and determine the complete sequence of DNA bases in the human genome.
