Registering for a new XCAMS account
- How do I get an XCAMS account?
- Choose the I Need an Account option from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main
menu. Users with UCAMS accounts should use their 3-character user id and password to access XCAMS; there
is no need to request an additional username.
- I just registered for an account, but I didn't receive the confirmation email. How do I complete the
registration process?
- Check your Junk Email folder to ensure your confirmation email wasn't mistakenly sent to this
folder. If you have more than one email address, make sure you are looking for the confirmation via
that email account. Another potential problem could be a typo in the email address provided when
requesting your account. The confirmation window is only good for 72 hours; so if you wait longer than that,
you can request another account.
- I just registered for an account and got the confirmation email, but the link in the email doesn't work. How do
I complete the registration process?
- Try cutting and pasting the URL directly into your web browser's URL field.
- I just registered for an account. Why can't I login?
- Wait about one minute, and try again. Remember, passwords are lower case.
- How do I register for more than one XCAMS username?
- Each individual user only needs one XCAMS username.
Deleting an XCAMS account
- How do I delete my XCAMS account?
- Choose the Delete My Account option from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main menu. Important Note: If you delete your account, it is
important to exit your browser completely to release cookie information that is being stored.
- How do I remove my UCAMS user id from XCAMS?
- Log into XCAMS using the 3-character userid and password you wish to remove from XCAMS. Choose the
Delete My Account option from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main menu.
Updating an XCAMS account
- How do I update my personal information?
- Choose the Update My Account Information option from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main menu.
- How do I change my email address?
- Choose the Update My Account Information option from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main
menu. After you log in, you can change your email address within the Contact Information
section.
- How do I change my password?
- Choose the Set a New Password option from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main
menu. Once you log in, a
listing of new passwords to choose from will be displayed.
- I just changed my password. Why can't I login?
- Wait about one minute, and try again. Remember, passwords are lower case. If you can't remember
your password, you can choose I Forgot My Password from the XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main menu and pick another password.
- My account has been suspended. How do I reactivate my account?
- External usernames have two options to reactivate an account that has been suspended due to not
retreiving a new password. 1. Click on the link embedded in the Password Re-activation email which
gave notification of your account being suspended. 2. Choose I Forgot My Password from the
XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main menu and pick another password.
- I've forgotten my password and can't remember the answers to the security questions. How do I get access to my
account?
- Call ORNL Computer Helpline at 865-241-ORNL (6765) or send an email requesting assistance to
helpline@ornl.gov.
Access to XCAMS protected resources
- How do I get access to the XYZ protected resource?
- To access an XCAMS protected resource, you must have an XCAMS account. If you don't have an XCAMS account, you can get one via the
I Need An Account option from the XCAMS Account Management (https://xcams.ornl.gov/xcams/) main menu. If after logging in with your XCAMS username and password, you still can't access the desired resource or you
don't have the level of access that you need, additional access may be required for that resource. In this case, you should check the
home/info page of the desired resource for information about requesting access. If you can't find this information, you should contact
the administrator of the resource.
- I'm supposed to have access to protected system XYZ. Why can't I access it?
- It's possible that you may need to synchronize your XCAMS password to activate your account. Click on
the password synchronization link contained within your confirmation email. If you have just recently performed this step, wait about one minute and try again. Remember, passwords are lower case. If none of these steps prove helpful, you
should contact the administrator for the resource you are trying to access to ensure that proper
authorization has been given to you.
- Why did I get an email message from XCAMS?
- After the system owner approves your request for access to the protected system, you will receive an
email notification and password synchronization instructions to get your account activated. If you feel
that there has been a fraudulent attempt to use your email address in gaining an XCAMS account, please notify
ORNL Computer Helpline using the contact information below.
